Janine Godfriaux-Leystra and Jim Leystra live on a farmette in the Town of Prairie du Sac and have lived in the Sauk Prairie Area since 1981. They have two fantastic children, a daughter attending the UW, LaCrosse and a son who is attending the Colorado School of Trade in Lakewood CO. Janine has a Bachelors of Science in Natural Resources from the UW, Madison. She has enjoyed working as a planning intern with Sauk County and alongside her husband managing Leystra’s Venture Restaurant in Sauk City. Janine currently is enjoying the various aspects of being a Design Consultant and Project Manager with Watts Landscape Service in Verona, WI. 

Janine has enthusiastically volunteered her time with numerous organizations and efforts in the Sauk Prairie Area from the School District and the Chamber to SP River PAL and the Wisconsin River Clean-up Committee and more. Most recently, Janine was a committee member with Sauk City’s Downtown and Hwy12/Phillips Blvd committees and was member of the Sauk Prairie Area Comprehensive Planning Steering Committee. Currently Janine is a Town of Prairie du Sac representative for the ETZ committees with the Villages of Prairie du Sac and Sauk City, a member of the SP Comprehensive Plan review committee, as well as secretary for the Town of Prairie du Sac’s Planning Commission.

Janine’s interest and hobbies include celebrating sense of place, water resource management, working with people, outdoor activities, sharing ideas, life-long learning and keeping our communities great places to live, work and recreate.
